This Redwood Valley, CA based winery is the first & largest all-organic winery in America & produces all their wines free of harmful pesticides & added sulfites. The farm uses biodynamic practices, ‘restoring vitality to the soil’ in a ‘self sustaining ecosystem, using special composting methods & specific planting times.’ All of their wines are also all vegan & free of gluten! I’ve enjoyed reading the literature about Frey Vineyards & sharing the taste of their lovely wines.
Chevre-esque with Sundried Tomatoes, Basil & Balsamic Vinaigrette (above)
I was also very excited to feature Divine Treasures cheeses at this tasting. Divine Treasures is a vegan chocolate & cheese shop & their delicious cashew based cheeses were a perfect complement to Frey’s lovely wines.
Herbs de Provence Chevre-esque
Cheeses of the Chevre-esque sampler (my favorite!)
The appetizer spread was French Mediterranean inspired & I used several recipes from the wonderful ‘A Vegan Taste of France’ by Linda Majzlik
*Tapenade (recipe from ‘A Vegan Taste of France’)
*Escarole salad
*Walnut Vinaigrette (recipe from ‘A Vegan Taste of France’)
*Mustard & Tarragon Dressing (recipe from ‘A Vegan Taste of France’)
*Grilled Provence Tomatoes (recipe from ‘A Vegan Taste of France’)
*Farro Risotto with Parsley
I loved developing these pairings & hosting a wonderful night of good wine, food & company! Looking forward to more!
