Maui in March

At Fairmont Kea Lani

I have so much to share from our trip to Maui these past few days!  Our stay was full of delicious food (much of it locally grown) & many active as well as deeply relaxing moments.  We found Maui to be very scenic & clean. The vegan scene is abundant & very exciting.  I am so glad we had a moment to devote to this beautiful island! I have a few pieces to get busy crafting for publication & over the next few weeks will be sharing many photos across my social media channels (FB, Instagram & Twitter).

Here’s a brief rundown on places we experienced while on Maui this month:

Mana Foods in Paia was the 1st place we stopped after we got the rental car. I was chasing a toddler while trying to stock up on some snack items but was just so happy to see a wealth of good vegan options. A few steps down the block we came across Maui Tibetan Buddhist Dharma Center & enjoyed the garden there while fueling up on some snacks, enjoying views of the stupa & mountains. Coconut Glen’s vegan ice cream truck is right next door – I had to return for seconds of their coconut ice cream later on in our trip!

We then drove across island to check into the The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui for a blissful & delicious two night stay. I was there mainly to experience the vegan offerings on their ‘Lifestyle Cuisine Plus’ menu. Over the course of our stay there I enjoyed every exclusively vegan dish from their kitchen as well as other resort amenities.

The next morning my husband joined us on the island & we went on the Saturday morning tour at Leilani Farm Sanctuary of Maui which was very exciting, particularly as it was our 1st farm sanctuary visit but also just to see this Eden like environment for the animals! We then returned to the Fairmont to relax a bit & then had a fabulous lunch at the resort’s award winning Kō Restaurant, followed by a treatment at award winning Willow Stream spa. The rest of Saturday was spent relaxing in our room & enjoying the resort’s private beach.

On Sunday we shifted over to stay in Kihei, an excellent spot for some magical sunset watching. Monday was a necessary full on beach day! That evening we enjoyed a bit of time in Wailuku, buying a couple of children’s books at the Maui Children’s Bookstore, having a delicious vegan club sandwich from Farmacy health bar Wailuku & some hot chai & coffee at Wailuku Coffee Company (which also had some nice looking vegan desserts on offer). On our last day, I had to check out Down To Earth in Kahului (great selection & space!). We revisited the Maui Tibetan Buddhist Dharma Center in Paia, enjoying talking to folks on the grounds there. A stop off at Maka by Mana was essential & I had the opportunity to photograph a few plates of food at this amazing & extremely delicious restaurant! We had a moment to wander around & relax at the The Sacred Garden before heading to the airport to head back to our current home on Oahu. So much more to share soon!!!!

Mahalo & Aloha Maui!
